Dr. Timothy Law Snyder named new Academic Vice President Dr. Timothy Law Snyder, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Fairfield University since 2001, has been named Vice President for Academic Affairs at Loyola College. Beginning this summer, Dr. Snyder will oversee all academic functions at Loyola, College President Brian F. Linanne, S.J., announced. He also will provide strategic leadership as a member of the President’s Cabinet.
Dr. Snyder will provide leadership and support to the Deans and Directors within the academic divisions at the College, working to enhance its academic programs and faculty development opportunities. This will directly affect the students, further enriching their academic experience. "Dr. Snyder’s record of scholarship and depth of experience in faculty recruitment and development, strategic planning and budget management will provide great leadership to the College as it pursues its strategic objectives," said Fr. Linnane. "Moreover, his commitment to Jesuit education and the Ignatian traditions of collaboration, innovation and diversity will serve Loyola well as the College encounters future opportunities and challenges." Prior to his service at Fairfield, where he also held a faculty position as full Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science, Dr. Snyder served Georgetown University as Dean of Science from 1995 – 99 and Chair of the Department of Computer Science from 1994 – 95. He initially joined Georgetown as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science in 1987. He has also taught at Toledo, Princeton and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Snyder completed undergraduate majors in Mathematics and Psychology in 1981 at the University of Toledo, as well as the M.S. in Mathematics (1983). He later went on to earn both an M.A. (1985) and the Ph.D. (1987) in Applied and Computational Mathematics from Princeton University. Dr. Snyder will take the place of Dr. David Haddad, who is retiring after eight years of service to Loyola. |
