Dr. Karyl LeggioLoyola College has named Dr. Karyl Leggio, currently Associate Dean for Academic Programs at the Henry W. Bloch School of Business and Public Administration at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, the Dean of Loyola’s Sellinger School of Business and Management. Dr. Leggio will assume her new duties on July 1, 2008.

“Loyola’s Sellinger School has long been the premier provider of business education in our region, and our reputation has only continued to grow under the leadership of our current Dean, Dr. Lee Dahringer,” says College President Brian F. Linnane, S.J. “Dr. Leggio’s knowledge and experience make her the ideal candidate to continue to lead the Sellinger School on pursuing its vision and reaching the goals that lie ahead.”

Dr. Leggio holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Kansas, as well as an MBA from East Tennessee State University and a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Strategic Management from Virginia Tech. She also completed the Management Development Program at the Harvard Institutes for Higher Education in 2007.

In addition to her academic work, Dr. Leggio has provided valuable consulting expertise to many corporate clients, including asset manager American Century, Sprint Corp., ProQuest Pharmaceuticals, and Aquila, a Midwest gas and electric utility.

Dr. Timothy Law Snyder, Loyola’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, led the search for the dean.

”Karyl Leggio brings Loyola a brilliant balance that will further goals related to the Sellinger School, from those of individual faculty and programs to those of the Baltimore and regional business communities to those of our undergraduate and graduate students,” says Snyder. “Dr. Leggio’s intellect, acumen, and experience—and wealth of innovative ideas—make her a perfect fit for the Sellinger School and university as we forge new strategic partnerships and practice.”

The Sellinger School of Business and Management offers undergraduate degrees in Accounting and Business Administration, with concentrations in Finance; Business Economics; Marketing; International Business; Management; and Management Information Systems. The Sellinger School’s graduate programs include the part-time MBA, Executive MBA, MBA Fellows and a master’s in Finance program.
