Getting Involved in the Literary Life of the Writing Department:

Modern Masters Reading Series:
bringing national and internationally renown writers to the Loyola Campus for readings and meetings with students.

Writing Department Internships:
a major's opportunity to check out the working world of writing.
Student Writers' Workshop:
offering students a dedicated group of writers who meet outside of class to share and discuss their poems, stories, plays, and essays. Run for and by students.
The Forum:
a literary magazine that publishes students' essays and artwork. Wholly run by students and produced professionally.
The Garland:
a literary magazine that publishes students' poetry, short fiction, and artwork. Wholly run by students and produced professionally.

The Writing Center:
an excellent resource for students seeking help with their writing and for students who are interested in teaching, tutoring, and the field of composition/rhetoric.

The Writer-in-Residence:
Lia Purpura, the department's Writer-in-Residence, acts as the department's ambassador at large, maintaining a high profile nationally and advising and mentoring Loyola Writing students in their pursuit of writing.

Pi Epsilon Pi, the Writing honor society:
inducts students who demonstrate excellence in academics and leader/service within the Writing department.
