A Tour of the Writing Department

	You can find the Writing Department in the Humanities Building, at the heart of Loyola College's academic campus.
Classes in Writing are small in order to maximize contact between students and professors, allowing students the time and attention they need to write well.
	The Writing Department sponsors the Modern Masters Reading Series, which brings accomplished writers to Loyola every semester. Writers visit our classes for discussions and writing students meet informally with visiting writers after class.
Not only are our classes small; they focus also on a lot of small-group work--which means you learn by doing, not simply by listening.
	Many of our students participate in co-curricular and service learning opportunities, like the E-mentors program.
Some Writing majors train to be tutors in the Writing Center, which is run by the Writing Department.
	Our faculty participate in many special programs--like Alpha and Honors--that enrich the classroom experience. Field trips are a key experience in the first-year Alpha classes
In conjunction with Pi Epsilon Pi, the Writing honor society, the Writing department sponsors events for writing students two or three times a year.
