Kelsey Arnold Year: 2010 Major: Public Relations Areas of special interest or experience you have as a writing consultant: Creative Writing, Writing for Communications classes Where you're from: Bay Shore, NY Favorite book: I recently read the book Eat, Pray, Love about a women’s journey to find herself through traveling. I found it both inspiring and thought provoking. Favorite quote: "Like gravity, karma is so basic we often don't even notice it." -- Sakyong Mipham Favorite movie: Across the Universe What's your writing process like? I’m usually a messy writer. I have a bunch of pieces of paper out with all different ideas and thoughts. It’s almost like a puzzle; I slowly begin to piece things together. I can usually write anywhere if the mood strikes me. I also, would rather write things down with a pen and paper rather then type them; I think it has more meaning. What has been your favorite course at Loyola? So far my favorite class at Loyola was definitely Creative Eye. I loved it because it really let me explore myself as a writer. It allowed me to write about the things I loved, but it also pushed me to write about topics and genres I wasn’t so confident in. I also really enjoyed hearing other people writing and listening to their perspectives. I wish there were a second level of Creative Eye; I would take it in a heartbeat! Where would you like to go? I will be traveling to Australia for the Study Abroad program next semester. I hope to visit Indonesia, Thailand, New Zealand, and The Cook Islands while I am there. I am really looking forward to learning about new cultures and traditions. One day I hope to have traveled all over the world. |
