Marisa Martin Class: 2010 Major: Communications (Advertising,) Sociology minor Areas of special interest: I’m still new at this, so I don’t have any favorite areas yet. I love a little bit of everything! From: East Brunswick, NJ Recent Reads: The Enchantress of Florence by Salman Rushdie; Crank by Ellen Hopkins; The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch; the final three installments of the Harry Potter series. Music: I go through phases, but right now I’m hooked on The Beatles and State Radio. Favorite Baltimore: I love to visit the American Visionary Art Museum. And I’m always up for going somewhere new, like a thrift store or restaurant! Best advice on writing: Don’t be afraid to be yourself! When a creative assignment allows you this option, don’t be afraid to write how you speak. Let your personality shine through your words on the page. Aspirations or future plans: For my career, I would love to get involved in advertising regulation or some sort of non-profit work. But based on the number of times I’ve changed my major, I know it can be counterproductive to go completely gung-ho towards super specific goals. I’m heading in that general non-profit direction, but I’m ready to adapt to what life brings me. In general, I want to travel, then travel, and travel some more! I love meeting all kinds of new people and experiencing all kinds of new cultures. And what better way to learn than through first hand encounters? |
