Rebecca Skerrett

Nickname:  Becki
Year:  Junior
Major:  Biochemistry    Minor:  Writing
Interests:  Creative writing is my favorite, but I also have lots of experience with writing lab reports and scientific documents.
From:  Rochester, NY (it’s Upstate.)

Favorite Book:  Steppenwolf by Herman Hesse
Recent Reads:  My Name is Asher Lev and The Gift of Asher Lev by Chaim Potok
Favorite part of Baltimore:  Little Italy!  I love good Italian food and the way the street is lit up at night.

Favorite Place:  My favorite place to read or write is outside, because something about the sunlight and fresh air makes it more special.  Words seem to flow better, and I get less stressed when I hit a block if I can look around and see trees.

Writing Process:  My writing process is a paper hog.  I brainstorm, outline, detail outline, draft, revise, and repeat the last two steps about three or four times.  I need to see everything in front of me before I make decisions, and I may change the same thing back and forth several times before deciding.  Sometimes my paper comes out looking like a totally different animal.

Places I’ve Been:  I recently went to New Zealand, and it was the time of my life!  I would go back in a heartbeat.  Eventually I’d like to go back and spend some time exploring there and in Australia.
