Modern Masters Reading Series continues with Baltimore writer Rafael Alvarez Rafael Alvarez, a reporter for The Sun in Baltimore for 20 years, will read from his work and field questions on Monday, Oct. 30 as part of Loyola College in Maryland's Modern Masters Reading Series. The event takes place at 7 p.m. in the 4th Floor Program Room. Much of Alvarez's newspaper work was collected in two anthologies, Hometown Boy and Storyteller. Alvarez is also the author of two collections of short fiction, The Fountain of Highlandtown and Orlo and Leini. Alvarez recently published a collection of essays, "The Wire:" Truth Be Told, about the acclaimed, Baltimore-set crime drama, for which he has contributed scripts. He is currently at work on a history of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. An annual program, the Modern Masters Reading Series is sponsored by the College's Center for the Humanities. The next Modern Masters event, featuring poet Kevin Prufer, is set for Nov. 8. at 5 p.m. |
