Catholic Studies lecture series begins with lecture by Fr. William Reiser, S.J.

For its primary contribution to the Year of the City, the Catholic Studies Program has organized lecture series entitled "Jesuits and Urbanism: History, Theology, and Spirituality."  The three-part series features several Jesuit scholars who have studied the urban focus of the work of St. Ignatius and the Jesuits.  Fr. William Reiser, S.J., Professor of Religious Studies at the College of the Holy Cross, will deliver the first lecture on Thursday, November 16th, at 4:30pm in the Hopkins Lounge.  The title of his talk is "'There you will see him' (Mark 16:7): Letting Cities Shape How We Pray and What We Choose."

In subsequent lectures, Fr. Tom Lucas (University of San Francisco) will speak about St. Ignatius' choice of the city as the primary locus of the ministry of the Society of Jesus, and Fr. T. Frank Kennedy (Boston College) will speak about Jesuit urbanism and the arts.
