ERICA and JHU present workshop on “Staying Healthy in Baltimore”

In cooperation with the JHU Bloomberg School of Public Health and the International Rescue Committee (IRC), the Episcopal Refugee and Immigrant Center Alliance (ERICA) is presenting the first of two FREE workshops on health-related themes, on Saturday, February 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, 4 E. University Parkway at N. Charles Street.

The workshop, entitled "Staying Healthy in Baltimore," will feature presentations on nutrition and health, the role of food choice in disease prevention, how to eat healthy on a budget, low-cost ways to exercise and stay fit in Baltimore, and basics of water safety.  In addition, representatives from Baltimore Health Care Access, Inc. will discuss programs that provide medical care for refugees, asylees and immigrants, even those with limited means to pay and/or undocumented immigration status.

Free lunch and child care will be provided, and free clothing will be available at the ERICA Boutique.  Free transportation is available on a first-come, first-served basis.  If you would like to attend, please call to register, 410-467-3750.

Part II of this health care workshop series will be held on Saturday, March 24, and will feature discussions of preventive medicine - - common health problems and how to avoid them.  The flyer for that event will be sent around after the February workshop.

If you have questions, please contact Peter Kirchgraber, ERICA’s Executive Director, at (410) 467-3750 (ext. 24 for voicemail).
