Office of Academic Affairs and Diversity hosts Frederick Douglass Historical Tour

On Saturday, April 14, 2007, the Office of Academic Affairs and Diversity hosts a tour that will introduce members of the Loyola community to some of Baltimore’s most beautiful neighborhoods and to the legacy of one of Maryland’s most prominent sons.

Beginning at Loyola College, the tour will travel southward, stopping briefly in some of the most beautiful and uniquely diverse neighborhoods of the City, including Charles Village, Mount Vernon, the Inner Harbor, and Fells Point.  In Fells Point, participants will learn from an expert about the history of the area and about the life of the influential abolitionist, author, statesman, and one-time resident of Baltimore, Frederick Douglass.  The tour will conclude with a meal at historic Bertha’s Mussels on Broadway in Fell’s Point.

The tour commences promptly at 10:00 a.m. from the parking lot of Jenkins Hall.  If you wish to participate, please r.s.v.p. to Candra Healy of the Office of Academic Affairs and Diversity by e-mail or by calling (410) 617-2988.  All participants are encouraged to wear sensible shoes, ask questions, and participate to the full.
