Three Baltimore Immigrants Speak March 27

Three faces of immigration in Baltimore. Three different regions of the world: Africa, Asia/Pacific Islands and Latin America. Three different personal situations: refugee, teacher and hourly worker. One destination: Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

Three Baltimore immigrants will speak March 27 from 7-8:30 p.m. in McGuire Hall at "Migration: A Local and Global Phenomenon." Come see some of the people who have recently arrived in Baltimore. Learn about the situations and conditions which help explain why people move from their homelands, and come appreciate the complexity and richness of social, economic and cultural changes and exchanges reflected in the stories of three immigrants to Baltimore. For more information, contact Andrea Goicochea at ext. 5823 or at mgoicochea@loyola.edu.

There will also be three resources people speaking. For Africa, Joachim Nthawie, Ph.D. from Advocates for Survivors of Torture and Trauma. For Asia, Mr. David Lee- Executive Director of Governor's Commission for Asian/Asian Pacific Affairs. For Latin America, Liz Alex from CASA of Maryland. Then each area will have a personal story from an immigrant.
