Spring Break Outreach offers up-close look at issues in Baltimore This spring break, a team of dedicated Loyola students and staff will leave campus for an immersion experience just a few miles down the road. In honor of the Year of the City, the Center for Community Service and Justice's Spring Break Outreach program is offering students an opportunity to take an up-close and personal look at our home community. Catholic Charities is hosting the Loyola volunteers in one of its downtown facilities and sponsoring service opportunities in a number of its agencies. The sites to be visited have a focus on issues around prison incarceration and reentry into the home community, substance abuse, and lack of affordable housing. Students will hear from local activists and residents about the realities of life that make these entrenched problems so difficult to address. Students will also tour a number of local agencies to learn about their work and visit fun sites in the city, as well. |
