Staff Council sponsors book drive for Winston Middle School
As part of its involvement in the Year of the City initiative, the Staff Council of Loyola College decided to facilitate a book drive in support of the educational efforts of a Baltimore City school. Working with Loyola’s Education Department to identify a school that could benefit from a book drive, the Staff Council selected nearby Winston Middle School on the basis of its students’ comparatively low scores on standardized math and reading exams. Between October 15th and November 15th, the Staff Council hopes to raise enough funds to purchase ten sets of “wish list” books for Winston Middle’s library. The approximate cost of each set is $85.00. Persons who wish to contribute to the book drive may do so by giving cash and check contributions to departmental staff representatives. Credit card and Evergreen contributions can also be arranged by contacting Melody Huebel at 410-617-5547 or mhuebel@loyola.edu. The Staff Council urges you to support this campaign. Give the gift of reading. |
