  • Degree Master of Arts in Teaching - Social Studies

Ashley Conroy completed her Master of Arts in Teaching from Loyola in December 2017. Her area of focus: Secondary Social Studies. Ashley joined the program after earning a bachelor’s degree from McDaniel College, where she double majored in History and Political Science with a minor in English Literature. After working a series of unsatisfying jobs, Ashley says she felt called to teaching, because she loves working with children and young adults and she wanted to do something more meaningful with her life and work. The Denver native was drawn to Loyola’s MAT program because the Jesuit concept of cura personalis is a core tenant of a Jesuit education. For Ashley, the School of Education's location in a diverse place such as Baltimore City proved to be an asset to her graduate experience.

Ashley Conroy
As human beings we are all very nuanced, and having an education system that only considers the mental and academic aspects of students is negligible; it isn’t profound. The fact that cura personalis is a core tenant of the Loyola School of Education really resonated with me.
