Phil Leverrier

  • Class Year 2007

  • Degree BBA

Phil, who graduated from in 2007 with a Bachelor of Business Administration (concentration in marketing), credits his career success to his business education grounded in the liberal arts, to his extra-curricular experiences, and to Loyola’s Jesuit values, which prepared him to work with people whose values differ from his own. “My Jesuit education from Loyola put me ahead of my peers in the following areas: critical thinking, a passion for learning, and an understanding of how to work with people beyond my own community,” says Phil, who works in residential real estate in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Originally from Bethesda, Md., Phil was drawn to Loyola because he wanted to receive a Catholic, liberal arts education—and he wanted to learn through experience. During his first year, he became involved with WLOY, Loyola’s student-run radio station as a music director. He transitioned to the role of program director before serving as the station's general manager for three years—an experience, he says, that prepared him to lead and manage a team. “The most important skill I learned was how to work with people who had different approaches to problem-solving. WLOY provided a bridge to work directly with other small businesses and nonprofits to give back to the community.”
