  • Class Year2010

  • Degree Master of Arts in Teaching, Social Studies

A 2010 graduate of the Master of Arts in Teaching program, Simone says she infuses Loyola’s core values in her teaching to provide her students with a well-rounded education. Simone, who is originally from Dublin, Ireland, and who lives in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., came to Loyola after meeting colleagues who attended the University while teaching in Muscat, Oman. “When I looked into Loyola's School of Education, the focus on urban education really appealed to me,” says Simone, who holds a bachelor's degree in history and Greek and Roman Civilization from the University College Dublin, Ireland (UCD). During her time at Loyola, she was involved with WLOY, the university's radio station, and worked as an administrative assistant for International Student Services. After receiving her MAT, Simone worked in the Baltimore City Public Schools as a middle school social studies teacher. She now works at the Pawling High School in Pawling, N.Y. Her advice to graduate students is to become involved on campus and consider joining the WLOY team: “I made a lot of professional connections through my work at WLOY that I wouldn't have thought possible between radio and education,” says Simone.
