  • Class Year 2017

  • Degree Professional's MBA

As program manager of the Esperanza Center at Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Helaney Sinkler handles the management, financials, and grant writing for three separate programs. Her day-to-day work made her realize the value of an MBA, and she was drawn to Loyola’s part-time Professional’s MBA program because of the school’s values and partnership with the Esperanza Center. “I was delighted to have found a school that had an accredited MBA program and that upholds the Jesuit principles of education,” she says. Helaney, who was born in Honduras and moved to Maryland as a child, received her bachelor's in Psychology from Towson University. After getting married and having a son, she wanted to return to the classroom. She graduated from Loyola with her MBA in December 2017, and hopes her next professional move is to the corporate sector. “The classroom format at Loyola was very welcoming and engaging,” she says. “I also found my peers to be more diverse with regards to their respective industries than I originally imagined. I was able to connect with individuals from government agencies, healthcare agencies, other nonprofits, and corporate agencies, just to name a few.”

I felt good knowing that I was obtaining my education from an institution that believes, as I do, in the importance of the community in which it operates, giving back to those most in need, being in service to others, justice for all, and integrity in all aspects of one’s life.
