Ramon Goings, Ed.D.
Ramon Goings, Ed.D., assistant professor of educational leadership, earned his bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Lynchburg; he received his doctorate from Morgan State University. Before joining the faculty in Loyola's School of Education, Dr. Goings taught music and video technology, special education, and education at the college level. His scholarship focuses on disrupting negative narratives about Black males throughout the educational pipeline. Dr. Goings incorporates Loyola’s Jesuit values in his classroom by pushing students to reflect and address their own biases to help them grow: “What I enjoy most about teaching at Loyola is how I get to develop deep connections with my students,” says the Stamford, Conn., native. “Given that classes at Loyola are relatively small, I have the opportunity to see the maturation of my students as future leaders over time.”

The Jesuit mission is certainly unique to Loyola and a thread that runs through all facets of the university.
