Jalal Soroosh, Ph.D.

  • Academic Focus Accounting

Jalal Soroosh, Ph.D., professor of accounting, says his students’ work ethic inspires him to teach. Originally from Iran, the accounting department chair has been teaching at Loyola since 1983. Dr. Soroosh received his Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Mississippi. His research focuses on financial accounting for practitioners, and his publications have received awards from practitioner journals. For Dr. Soroosh, teaching at an institution of Loyola’s size gives him the opportunity to develop close relationships with his students and with fellow faculty members. In the classroom, he keeps his students’ best interests in mind and believes a degree in accounting from Loyola is unlike any other. “Our accounting students study and work hard, and when they go out to get jobs they are always a head and shoulder above other candidates. That’s what makes our program stand out.”
