- Class of 2018
- Major, Minor Communication, Marketing
When Francesca was looking at colleges, she knew she wanted to major in communication. She was drawn to Loyola's program—and especially to the opportunity for a capstone project during her senior year. "When I saw the impressive work the students did and how friendly the professors were, I immediately decided that was the major I wanted to pursue at Loyola," says the Lakewood, N.Y. native who added a minor in marketing to her academic program. During her time at Loyola, Francesca has served as student body president of the Student Government Association; she has been involved with Alpha Sigma Nu, the international Jesuit honor society, the Evergreens, and weekly service at Govan's Elementary School. "Dr. Thomas McCreight was my Messina professor and taught me so much," she says, adding, "I loved his Classics course so much that she decided to enroll in the Rome Summer Program so I could take him again." After graduation, Francesca will be working at the National Comedy Center in Jamestown, N.Y. where she has accepted a position as production manager for the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival. "I have worked with the NCC for the past two summers, and I am excited to return as we open the exhibit this August."

I strongly believe the core curriculum helps Loyola students to become well-rounded individuals. Opposed to just skimming the surface, the core allowed me to dive into other studies outside my field. This opened up relationships with faculty and provided me with a diverse way of thinking, allowing me to stand out in my internship interviews and experiences.
