- Class of 2020
- Program Psy.D.
For Leanna Brisson, education, hard work, and service have always been integral parts of her identity—and upon learning about Loyola’s Psy.D. program, she knew she'd found a good fit for her doctoral studies. The New York native, who also holds her M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Loyola and her M.A. in Psychology from Stony Brook University, hopes to graduate in 2020. She enjoys the program’s emphasis on small classes combined with clinical and practical application, as well as the networking and field placement opportunities available. “Whether it be at externship or internship sites, the Maryland Psychologist Association Board, or out in the community, it’s so easy to find graduates of Loyola and the Psy.D. program who are ready to network with you. Loyola has a great professional reputation in the community, as well as past Delaware/Virginia/Maryland boundaries.” Following graduation, Leanna hopes to continue on to a post-doctoral fellowship focusing on further developing her psychotherapy skills. She eventually intends to work in a private practice or community mental health setting.

I knew Loyola was a place where I could grow into myself as a clinician as well as a person. The Psy.D. program fits who I am and who I want to be.
