Maria

A full-time student and the founder, designer, and CEO of her jewelry company, Blue Bone Jewelry, Maria will be the first to tell you she is living her dream. The Warren, N.J., native started her business in 2016 selling her jewelry seaside in Lavallette, N.J. The opportunities she discovered at Loyola helped her further develop and grow her business and have shaped her future far beyond Loyola. She participated in the Baltipreneurs Accelerators program, which offers mentoring and resources to Baltimore entrepreneurs. After 24 weeks as an intern, learning and growing with mentors at Pandora Jewelry, Maria pitched her business to potential investors, her cohorts, and the Loyola and greater Baltimore community. She won $8,500 as the first-place prize to invest in her business. “Had it not been for Loyola, Blue Bone would not be where it is today,” she says of her business. As a student majoring in business administration with a specialization in marketing and a communication minor, in digital media, Maria integrates her education daily into her business. Maria is also a member of the business fraternity, AKPsi Chi Iota, and she represented Loyola in the International Digital Innovation & Entrepreneurship II Conference along with the Naval Academy Annual Leadership Convention. Maria was recently selected among 70 designers for Flying Solo’s “New York Fashion Week Ones to Watch” list. Her work will be featured in a runway show in New York Fashion week in September 2022. Following graduation from Loyola, Maria will pursue her master’s degree in Fashion Management at Parsons School of Design - The New School in New York City. “In this year-long program, I will be learning about global and local manufacturing, ethical production, value chains, marketing, and merchandising. I am so excited for all that is to come.”
