From leading tours for the office of undergraduate admission to cheering on the Greyhounds as a cheerleader to serving as a mentor to first-year students as a Messina Evergreen and as a member of the Student Government Association, Mariefred wears many hats on campus. Service has always been a large part of her life, and this led her to getting involved in Spring Break Outreach; she also attended then led a student immersion trip in Washington, D.C., that focused on urban poverty and homelessness. The political science major with a communication minor says the relationships she has with faculty and her internship coordinator have helped prepare and inform her of opportunities on campus and off that will help her launch her career. After she graduates, Mariefred will begin her role with Homeland Security, where she has accepted a position contracting for the organizations nuclear weapons task force.
