Sebastian sought out Loyola’s Master’s in Emerging Media to create a media education program at Tangaza University College in Nairobi, where he teaches broadcast journalism. Sebastian holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Communication from the Salesian University in Rome, Italy, and a master’s in International Journalism from the University of Westminster in London, U.K. Born and raised in India, he has lived and worked in Kenya for more than three decades. Especially through teaching the subject, Sebastian has realized how media is increasingly becoming more digital. “I train people on media education and production. As the world moves from traditional media—newspaper, radio, and television—to digital media, like social media, I would like to learn more about it and use it in my training.” Sebastian found exactly what he was looking for in Loyola’s Emerging Media program. Just a few semesters into the program, Sebastian feels he has already learned a great deal of practical knowledge and found an academic and professional mentor in Eliot King, Ph.D., professor of communication.
