  • ProgramMaster of Accounting

Victoria, a current graduate student in Loyola’s Master of Accounting (MAcc) program, is originally from Nigeria. She completed her bachelor’s degree from Lagos State University in Ojo, Nigeria, and received her Higher National Diploma in Accounting from the Polytechnic Ibadan. Victoria has passed all four papers of the accounting boarding exams in Nigeria; before moving to the United States to continue working as an accountant, Victoria was considered a head accountant in Nigeria, where she practiced accounting for 15 years in both the private and public sectors. She is currently a student member of the Association of Charted Certified Accountants, and she aspires to work in auditing after she finishes her master’s degree. Since starting the MAcc program at Loyola, Victoria has received valuable knowledge that will help her complete the CPA exams and become a successful auditor. “All of the courses I have taken will have a lasting impact on my experience at Loyola, especially the Audit Practice course—it covers both the theory and practical aspects of auditing,” says Victoria, who hopes to one day become a partner at one of the larger auditing firms.

At the initial stage of the MAcc program, it was very tough for me because I had little prior knowledge of accounting practices in the United States... but with the help of the dedicated professors at Loyola, I was able to overcome this hurdle.
