Coronavirus Updates

Jan. 5, 2021 - Undergraduate Students: Time-sensitive info about pre-arrival and baseline testing

Dear Students,

We are excited to welcome you back to campus later this month for the Spring semester. Our colleagues across the University are working hard to make certain that when we open, we can operate in the healthiest, safest way possible. A significant piece of this plan includes COVID-19 testing for our community.

Please read through the information below and follow the instructions regarding requirements to allow for testing to run smoothly.

Register for AURA
Earlier this week, you should have received an email from INFO@AURATRACKER.ORG asking you to register for their app. This app is what will be used for scheduling all surveillance testing. Please register for this free app in the Apple App Store or on your Android device. If you do not see this email in your Inbox, please be sure to check your Junk mail folder!

Essential Pre-Arrival Info
Below is information you need to know as you return to Loyola for the Spring 2021 semester:

For Off-Campus Students in non-Loyola Housing:
All students who will be living off-campus in housing not operated by Loyola and attending classes on campus are required to submit a negative COVID-19 PCR test in order to receive clearance to return to campus.

The PCR test must be dated between 01/04/2021 and 01/18/2021. Please make every attempt to be tested prior to 1/16/2021 in order to be cleared to return to campus when in-person classes begin on 1/21/2021.

Once you have had your COVID test done, you are strongly encouraged to self-quarantine to allow for decreased risk for exposure prior to coming to campus.

To submit your proof of a negative PCR test, please click on the link below.

Pre-return COVID-19 Testing CLEARANCE LINK

For Students in Loyola Housing (including students at Loyola housing at the Woodberry and The Social)
Consider getting a COVID PCR test done at home and self-quarantine prior to your arrival on campus. This test is not required. However, being tested prior to your return will allow you to remain in isolation comfortably at home should you test positive for COVID-19.

Register for the AURA app and include your insurance information as well, if instructed.  Then select an appointment time that coincides with your move-in appointment.

Arrive on your assigned move-in day and you will be tested as a part of the move-in procedure at the Fitness & Aquatic Center.

Importance of Your Self-Quarantine
We are asking you to self-quarantine prior to coming to campus to limit your potential exposure to COVID-19 and give our Loyola community the best chance for a successful semester. As we know, COVID is spread through droplets in the air and is easily transmissible through social interactions. By limiting interactions with others outside of your household prior to coming to campus, you reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19.

Tips for a successful self-quarantine:

  • Wear your face covering in any setting where you are around others who are not a part of your regular household.
  • Only go to public spaces when absolutely necessary.
  • It’s okay to walk outside but mask and keep at least 6 feet distance away from those around you.
  • Wash your hands frequently and use hand sanitizer when needed if soap and water aren’t readily available.

If You Have Already Tested Positive for COVID-19

If you have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 90 days, please submit a copy of your positive results along with a letter of clearance from isolation by your medical provider to healthservices@loyola.edu AND bring a copy of these documents with you on the day of move-in. Doing both these things will allow for things to move smoothly for you during the day.

Thank you for doing your part to keep Loyola safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Student Health Services
