Dear Members of the Loyola Community,
As we return from Spring Break, the University intends to lift the indoor mask mandate on all of Loyola’s campuses on Friday, March 18, and move to a mask-optional approach. When the mask mandate lifts, wearing masks will still be required during appointments at Student Health Services and the Counseling Center.
Any member of the community or visitor who wants to continue to mask in Loyola facilities will be most welcome to do so. Members of the community who have been exposed to COVID-19 or advised by medical professionals to mask must continue to do so according to guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
This week, we will be conducting increased testing throughout our community to assess the status of COVID-19 following the return from Spring Break. We are confident that with low positivity rates locally and nationally, we will be able to lift the indoor mask mandate safely and move to a mask-optional approach. Loyola reserves the right to change our COVID-19 protocols at any time.
As we make this change in policy and move toward a sense of normalcy, we ask you to embrace the spirit of cura personalis, recognizing care and concern for each member of our community. The decision about whether to mask can evoke strong emotions and sometimes judgment. Please keep in mind that many members of our community will continue to mask to protect themselves or others who are important to them. We ask you to continue to look out for one another and respect others’ choices and concerns with regard to masking.
Thank you for doing your part to keep our community healthy and safe.
