Overview of Major

The art history curriculum offers a broad range of courses, which are designed to furnish students with a thorough overview of the history of art and architecture and provide comprehensive coverage of the Western tradition from ancient to contemporary, as well as courses in African, Asian, and Islamic art. The research of the faculty mirror the breadth of the department's offerings and include: medieval manuscripts, 15th-century Italian painting, 19th-century American art, and Yoruba art.
