Biography

Karen Fish is the author of three poetry collections, The Cedar Canoe (University of Georgia), What Is Beyond Us (Harper/Collins) and No Chronology, (University of Chicago). Fish has been awarded a Pushcart Prize, a fellowship to the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown and was a visiting lecturer at Princeton University. Her poems have appeared in numerous magazines including: The New YorkerThe Paris ReviewYale ReviewThe American Poetry ReviewPoetryThe New Republic, and Slate

For many years, Fish participated in a reading group at the Women's State Prison at Jessup. She is the founding director of the Modern Masters Reading Series, sponsored by the Center for the Humanities of Loyola University.  Her third collection of poems, No Chronology, published Spring '21 was recently selected as "Must-Read Poetry for March 2021" by The Millions. As one reviewer noted, "Told aslant, with exquisite lyricism and incandescent imagery, No Chronology is a beautiful, thrilling book of poems."
