Combined M.S./Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology

The Psy.D. program in Clinical Psychology is a full-time, five-year program of study. All entering students must complete and pass a background check prior to admission. Students entering the program with a Bachelor's degree begin the program at the first year of the curriculum, as 1st year students. The first year of the curriculum includes coursework and clinical placement.  First-year students will be awarded the M.S. in Psychology degree upon successful completion of the required credit hours (typically in January of the 2nd year). Students who enter the program at the first-year level will complete a total of 124 credits, including credit hours for dissertation, clinical placement, doctoral comprehensive exams, and course work.

Students accepted to the program who have already obtained a Master's degree in Psychology may be eligible to begin their course of study at the second year of the curriculum, as 2nd year students. The second through fourth years of the curriculum consist of a total of 86 credit hours. Students will take written and oral comprehensive exams following the third year of the curriculum, prior to applying for doctoral internship. The final, fifth year is a full-time doctoral internship for all students.

All requirements for the Psy.D. program, including the dissertation and doctoral internship, must be completed within seven years of enrollment in the program. This necessitates that students apply for doctoral internship no later than the fall of their sixth academic year.
