Music Workshop for Primary Teachers with Janet McDonell

jm-headshotWe are delighted to feature WMI director of training Janet McDonell for the March workshop on Music. Janet will consider music as an essential and universal experience of all cultures. Music is a means of human expression and has the power to evoke a myriad of emotions and responses.  We will review the bells as a key to the world of music, including the basics of composition and reading.  We will also look at various ways to use the bells in ear and voice training with children.  And, of course, we will sing, sing, sing!

Tuition: $120 (includes lunch; choose chicken or mozzarella/tomato)
CEUs: 5 clock hours from Loyola University Maryland
Online registration only; register by March 8th (space limited).

Practical Tips for the Montessori Primary Assistant with BethAnn Slater

beth-annWe welcome BethAnn Slater to her first WMI workshop, Practical Tips for the Montessori Assistant. Join her to delve into the wording and maneuvers that are helpful in supporting the developing child. We will examine the rationale behind why particular ways of responding to and supporting children work better than others. You will have the opportunity to practice some successful techniques as you strive to be the best supporting actor to the classroom teacher and the families in your Montessori community.

BethAnn has been the Head of School at Middleburg Montessori in Virginia since 2003. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Tech in Family and Child Development, an AMI primary diploma from Ohio Montessori Training Institute and a masters of education from Loyola University.
