Volunteer Opportunities for Alumni and Parents
Admission Ambassador Program
Loyola University Maryland is built on a strong tradition of academic excellence, community, and the transformative experience that only a Jesuit education can provide.
Serving as an Admission Ambassador brings back nostalgia from your own Loyola experience and helps identify and recruit future Greyhounds who will be inspired to learn, lead, and serve in our diverse and changing world.
Through our Admission Ambassador program, alumni and parent volunteers can share their Greyhound pride and loyalty—while giving back to the University—by encouraging academically talented students to apply to and attend Loyola.
Providing your perspective as a Loyola graduate and/or parent is the most important part of the program. Connecting with prospective students and families through one-on-one interaction, personal attention, and encouragement can make the difference between a student in your community choosing Loyola or another school.
Goals of the Program
- To increase the number of highly competitive and qualified students considering Loyola at the undergraduate level and to increase the percentage of admitted students who enroll
- To provide a local information source for inquiring students, applicants, admitted and enrolled students, and their families
- To provide regional assistance to the Loyola admission team
- To create opportunities for alumni and parents to meaningfully engage in the mission and vision of Loyola University Maryland
College Fair Representative
College Fairs are programs that introduce high school students to different colleges. Alumni and parents represent Loyola University Maryland and speak with students and their parents about the Loyola experience, in addition to distributing admission publications. The Office of Undergraduate Admission receives hundreds of invitations each year to participate in these programs. While the admission office handles some of the fairs, it is not possible for them to attend all events. With alumni and parent help, Loyola can have a presence in regions across the country to recruit future Greyhounds and diversify our student body.
Greyhound Connections Program
Admission Ambassadors make congratulatory phone calls, write letters, or send emails to admitted students to answer questions, guide admitted students to Loyola resources, and encourage students to attend local or on-campus events.
Prospective and Admitted Student Events
The Office of Undergraduate Admission hosts numerous on-campus and regional events throughout the year for prospective and admitted students and their families. At these receptions, alumni and parents share their Loyola spirit by assisting the admission and Loyola staff. There is no better way for prospective students and their parents to understand the impact and value of a Loyola education than to interact with our graduates and current parents, and we know that speaking to our incredible ambassadors is often a highlight of a family’s visit to Loyola.

There is no limit to the number of students you can refer through the Refer a Greyhound site.
