ALANA Programs

In addition to supporting the independent programs and activities coordinated by ALANA student organizations, ALANA Services sponsors the following programs:

  • Multicultural Awareness Program (MAP) The Pre-Fall Program designed to assist first-year ALANA students in acclimating to campus life at Loyola. Specific objectives of the program are academic enhancement, intercultural exploration, social adjustment and community service.
  • ALANA Mentoring Program (AMP) The ALANA Mentoring Program (AMP) pairs first-year ALANA students with upper-class students to assist them in acclimating to campus life at Loyola University Maryland. The ALANA Mentors play an integral role in working with students for the first year of their college experience. 
  • MAN2MAN A bi-weekly affinity group that seeks to provide a supportive network where men of color can engage in thoughtful discussion and self expression related to the challenges, celebrations, and complexities related to their experience at Loyola.
  • Sister to Sister A bi-weekly affinity group that seeks to provide a supportive network where women of color can engage in thoughtful discussion and self expression related to the challenges, celebrations, and complexities related to their experience at Loyola.
  • Hora de Café con Leche A wonderful space for students to practice Spanish speaking skills while engaging in conversations about culture, diversity, and relevant, current events. here are two levels in the program; the beginner level is designed for those who are currently learning Spanish and want to build up their speaking skills, while the advanced level is a space for Spanish speakers to engage in deeper conversations about the Latinx community.
  • Black Student Association Fashion Show The Black Student Association (BSA) Fashion Show began in 1998 as a campus-wide event to show Black culture, fashion and music through runway. Since 1998 the show has become bigger and better! Students from all over campus participate as models to make the show a success every year.
