Ceiba Diversity Scholarship (Study Abroad Students)

Description: The Ceiba Foundation for Tropical Conservation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit international conservation organization committed to fostering and supporting diversity in environmental science. Our Diversity Scholarships enable students from under-represented racial and ethnic groups and of limited financial means to travel to the tropics and gain international experience in biological research and conservation. Scholarships can be applied to Ceiba’s "Tropical Conservation Semester: Galapagos, Andes, and Amazon," or one of our summer programs in Ecuador or Belize. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $20,000. Award availability and scholarship amounts vary according to the number and need of applicants, and the length of the program.
Spolin Law P.C. Civil Rights and Criminal Law Essay Competition

Description: Spolin Law P.C. represents people whose civil rights have been violated and individuals facing criminal charges, whether they have been wrongfully accused of a crime or are simply seeking a fair outcome. The underlying principle of the firm is that every person deserves to be treated with dignity. To further this idea, Spolin Law P.C. has created a Civil Rights and Criminal Law Essay Competition, the winner of which will receive a $1,000 scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to raise awareness of criminal and civil rights issues and support students who can articulate the importance of these principles. Essay prompt: “What does the U.S. Constitution mean to you?”
Association for Iron & Steel Technology Scholarships

Description: The top-scoring applicant of all received will be awarded the Premier Scholarship, a one-year scholarship of $12,000 with a paid summer internship (summer preceding the scholarship). Applicant must commit to a paid summer internship at a North American steel-related company and must be a citizen of the United States, Canada or Mexico, and may need to relocate for the internship period. Note: Upon selection, AIST will assist in internship placement; however, applicants are encouraged to seek information from steel companies at career/job events and may, at any time, accept an internship or co-op at a steel producing company or industry supplier. If an internship is self-placed by the recipient, the internship will need to be pre-approved. Please contact AIST for approval prior to accepting a self-placed internship. Acceptance of an internship at a company not specifically related to steel manufacturing will automatically disqualify the applicant.
Applicants should be students majoring in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, data science, safety or industrial hygiene programs. Applications will be accepted from university freshmen, sophomore and junior applicants, and university seniors planning to attend graduate school. Applicant must be enrolled full-time in a four-year undergraduate (minimum of 12 credits) or graduate program (minimum of 8 credits) at an accredited North American university. An applicant working full-time does not qualify. Applicant should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Application, essay and recommendation letter should express a strong interest in the iron and steel industry.
Rhodes Scholarship

Description: The Rhodes Scholarships are the oldest and most celebrated international fellowship awards in the world. Each year 32 young students from the United States are selected as Rhodes Scholars, through a decentralized process representing the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories. Applicants from more than 320 American colleges and universities have been selected as Rhodes Scholars. In most years, even after a century of competition, a Rhodes Scholar is selected from an institution which has not formerly supplied a successful applicant. Each year, on the Saturday preceding the Thanksgiving holiday, a new United States Rhodes Scholar class is elected. These outstanding students are selected from a pool of candidates nominated by their colleges and universities. Walt Disney Imaginations Design Competition Project Challenge

Description: Imaginations is a design competition created and sponsored by Walt Disney Imagineering with the purpose of seeking out and nurturing the next generation of diverse Imagineers. Started in 1991 by Disney Legend and Imagineering executive Marty Sklar, the program has grown to include separate versions sponsored by Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and Shanghai Disney Resort. Imaginations opens up the opportunity for students to showcase their skills and talents to Imagineering through a Disney related project. Provided with a project challenge, students and recent graduates work in teams to deliver a concept in a similar way to how Imagineers develop their blue sky projects. In a matter of weeks, teams have to leverage their various artistic, technical and communication skills to prepare a submission that will appeal to judges whose backgrounds include a wide array of creative and technical disciplines. The top finalist teams win an all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney Imagineering in California, where they present their projects to Imagineering executives and compete for awards.
