Meet and Compete FAQ

Meet and Compete Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes!  You are welcome to bring two adult guests, and children.  Children (under age 18) must be supervised by an adult.

Is babysitting available?

Children must be accompanied by supervised by an adult.  We plan to have a craft/game table available, and may have other events depending on the number of children who register.

Is it okay to come by myself?

Of course!  The whole idea is to meet some new people.  We're looking forward to meeting you.

Should I eat beforehand?

We will feed you!  We will start the event with a casual dinner and dessert available at the FAC Café.

Can I arrive late?

Yes, we will have the food out at least until 6:30 or 7, and you can join in whatever events the group decides to do when you arrive.

I can't stay long.  Can I just eat and run?

Of course.  You're welcome just to eat and maybe meet a few folks.

How about parking?

The FAC has its own parking lot at 4900 N. Charles Street, and the gates should be open for the event after 5p.m.

How should I dress?

That depends.  If you want to play, please dress appropriately for that.  You will have access to a climbing wall, basketball, raquetball, badminton, volleyball, and more.  If you just want to eat and watch, that's fine too!  Or just change when you get to the FAC.

I missed registration.  Is it too late?

We don't want to turn away anyone, and will do our best to accommodate you.  Please send us an email at gso@loyola.edu to let us know how many are coming, and we will confirm.

Do I have to be a member of the FAC to attend?

Nope.  This event is free and open to all Loyola graduate students and their families / significant others.  If you are not a member, we will ask you to simply fill out a release agreement when you arrive.  If you wish, you may print and sign the adult release form and/or child release form ahead of time, and bring the documentation with you to the event.

I don't know if I want to compete.  What are we doing?

You don't have to compete, but we will have opportunities to play a variety of sports depending on the interest of attendees, and how many want to play.  In the past, we have played dodgeball, wallyball, basketball, kickball, and more.  If you prefer individual activities, you are welcome to swim, use the climbing wall, the jogging track, and so on.

I registered, but now I can't make it.  Now what?

We would really appreciate you letting us know if you can't make it as soon as possible.  This will help us in our planning, and to avoid food waste.
