Position Education Partnerships Graduate Assistant
Hours & Wages

Schedule: 2022-23 academic year, with potential for a one-year renewal.   Recipient will work approximately 15 hours per week, or approximately 200 hours within semester.  May include some evening hours.  

Remuneration:  $3000 per semester, following a 50 percent stipend and 50 percent scholarship model ($1500 will automatically go towards tuition, $1500 will be provided as a stipend). 

**This amount is based on 200 hours/semester (12.5 hours per week for 16 weeks at $15/hour).  It may be prorated depending on when position is filled and how many hours of work will actually be completed during the semester.

Position Term: 2022-23 academic year (Aug 2022 – May 2023)

Qualifications

 • Experience within a school setting, tutoring, and/or working with children

Detail oriented with demonstrated written and oral communication, organization, and data management skills

High cultural competency desired

Knowledge of SPSS, Excel, LexisNexis strongly preferred

Experience with and interest in community service, service- learning, community engagement, community organizing or social justice work

Ability and willingness to work with community partners, students, faculty, and campus partners

Scope & Responsibilities

This position will support CCSJ’s education-based partnerships with local York Road community schools, serving as a connector between the School of Education’s resources and the community.  The position will assist Loyola faculty and partner education coaches, CCSJ’s Assistant Director for Outreach and Advocacy, student interns and volunteer tutors. This position will directly support the tutoring partnership between the School of Education, Govans Elementary School, and Walter P. Carter Elementary/Middle School.

Position Duties:

1. Provide logistical oversight and management of tutor training and tutor coordination.

2. Assist partner literacy coaches and School of Education faculty in the development and implementation of the pilot literacy tutoring curriculum.

3. Assist with data collection and recording for the tutoring pilot. This includes working with Govans and Walter P. Carter staff and School of Education faculty to track and share information. 

4. Provide ongoing support and oversight of volunteer tutors, connecting them to the appropriate resources and personnel to meet individual tutee needs.

5. Represent CCSJ in the Govans-Walter P. Carter-School of Education partnership through relational, logistical and resource support. 

This position will report to the Assistant Director for Outreach and Advocacy.  Training and ongoing support will be provided.
