Position

Graduate Assistant for Racial Justice Programming

Hours & Wages

Schedule: 2022-23 academic year, with potential for a one-year renewal. Recipient will work approximately 15 hours per week, or approximately 200 hours within semester. May include some evening hours.

Remuneration: $3000 per semester, following a 50 percent stipend and 50 percent scholarship model ($1500 will automatically go towards tuition, $1500 will be provided as a stipend).

**This amount is based on 200 hours/semester (12.5 hours per week for 16 weeks at $15/hour). It may be prorated depending on when position is filled and how many hours of work will actually be completed during the semester.

Position Term: 2022-23 academic year (Aug 2022 – May 2023)

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled as a degree seeking graduate student in Loyola University Maryland’s School of Education or the College of Arts and Sciences’ Psychology Program.
  • Experience with developing and facilitating curriculum on racial justice and/or anti-racism. · Demonstrated written and oral communication, organization, detail oriented, and data management skills.
  • High cultural competency required. Must demonstrate skills and knowledge in supporting the needs of undergraduate students who identify as BIWOC (Black, Indigenous, and Other Womxn of Color).
  • Knowledge of statistics and data entry software such as SPSS, Microsoft Excel, R, etc. strongly preferred.
  • Experience with and interest in community service, service- learning, community engagement, community organizing or social justice work. · Ability and willingness to work with community partners, students, faculty, and campus partners.

Scope and Responsibilities

This position will support CCSJ’s racial justice programming initiatives for undergraduate students who engage with the Center for Community, Service, and Justice. The position will primarily support the CCSJ Assistant Director of Student Supervision, CCSJ/YRI undergraduate student employees, and (potentially) student employees engaged with the Office of Campus Ministry at Loyola University Maryland. This position will help to redesign, execute, and assess a racial justice curriculum for CCSJ/YRI undergraduate student employees.

Position Duties:

1. Develop facilitation, workshop, and reflection spaces seeking to foster knowledge, skills, and tools regarding racial justice/anti-racism for CCSJ/YRI undergraduate student employees.

2. Provide ongoing support to CCSJ/YRI undergraduate student employees who identify as BIWOC through affinity spaces facilitation and one-on-one mentorship.

3. Assist with developing assessment strategies and data collection for CCSJ/YRI educational and engagement programming.

4. Support campus and/or community programming as pertaining to racial justice and anti-racism at Loyola or in the York Road/Greater Baltimore communities.

This position will report to the Assistant Director, Student Supervision and ongoing support will be provided.
