Position

Graduate Assistant for Student Development Assessment
Hours & Wages Total package of $13,000 ($6,500 towards a tuition and $6,500 towards a stipend) - 20 hours (10 scheduled hours per week and 10 flexible hours per week scheduled in consultation with supervisor) for 40 weeks.
Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled as a graduate student at Loyola University Maryland
  • Statistical analysis experience, specifically in analysis using SPSS and/or R
  • Experience manipulating datasets using Microsoft Excel and/or Access
  • Ability to learn, understand, and utilize new software programs quickly, independently, and effectively
  • Basic knowledge of quantitative and qualitative methods
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to ethically maintain data files and records
  • Ability to listen to partners, working collaboratively with students, administrators, and faculty
  • Ability to apply culturally relevant and appropriate terminology and methods to conduct and report assessment findings

Responsibilities

The Graduate Assistant for Student Development Assessment will provide support of assessment projects for Messina, Student Development, and Academic Affairs. As a member of the Messina office, the Graduate Assistant will also attend weekly staff meetings, and provide day-of support for Messina co-sponsored events as needed.

Candidates will have technical and administrative skills needed to assist with assessment projects. Projects may include assisting with assessment of student learning outcomes; surveys to measure satisfaction, program and staff evaluation; and special projects related to department or division goals, including:

  • Assist with Messina annual assessment
    • Conduct focus groups and interviews
    • Audit Messina course syllabi and enrichment plans
    • Analyze data using SPSS or R
    • Participate in learning outcomes assessment through coding qualitative data
    • Support assessment and data collection related to retention and research on the first-year experience.
  • Assist with Student Development divisional assessment
    • Serve as a member of the Research Consultation Group
    • Utilize Qualtrics to create and publish surveys
    • Conduct interviews and focus groups
    • Provide support to Student Development for assessment projects utilizing using SPSS or R, including data analysis related to specific demographic factors
    • Prepare reports of findings for multiple audiences
    • Attend workshops and other trainings that enhance institutional assessment of high impact practices
