Messina is the First-Year Program that serves as the foundation of a first-year student’s journey at Loyola University Maryland – enriched both by small, seminar-style classes and by experiences that transcend the four walls of a classroom. With the guidance and support of experienced faculty, administrators and fellow students, Messina prepares students to embrace their role as active participants in the Loyola community.

Position Overview

The Messina Events Assistant work study position plays a crucial role in the success of Messina’s shuttles to various community events, including our Explore Baltimore and Senator Film Series events. The position is designed to provide day of logistical support and problem solving related to Messina events, including transportation and attendance for Messina sponsored shuttles.
Messina is seeking a dependable and organized student for the 2018 – 2019 academic year. All applicants must be eligible for and meet the requirements of Federal Work Study.

Responsibilities Include:

• Manage day of logistics for Messina sponsored events and shuttles and act as the point of contact.
• For events involving transportation:
o Be present at the campus pickup location 30 minutes prior to the scheduled pickup time. Meet the bus driver upon arrival at the pickup location and exchange contact information with driver.
o Ensure that the driver has all pertinent information for the trip (correct addresses, times, pick-up locations, etc.)
• Communicate with Messina staff if issues arise.
• Record event attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.
• MUST be available on evenings and weekends. Specific fall 2018 dates will be shared as soon as we have our events confirmed.
