Associate University Chaplain
Fr . Roach is a native of Baltimore, where he attended St. Bernardine’s School and Loyola Blakefield. After entering the Jesuits, Father studied German, philosophy and theology at St. Louis University and Woodstock College. He has spent most of his life in high school teaching and administration, first at St. Joseph’s Prep and then at Georgetown Prep. For six years he served as the Maryland Province Assistant for Secondary Education. In 2000 he went to Gdynia, Poland, where he taught English and worked in teacher formation at the Jesuit high school. In 2001 the Superior General of the Jesuits appointed Fr. Roach Secretary of Education. Fr. Roach served in that position and lived in Rome until 2009, when he became the Rector of the Scranton Jesuit Community. He came to Loyola in the fall of 2015. Fr. Roach is at home with languages, other cultures, and working with young people.
