This historic moment for Loyola invites us to reflect with gratitude on the past, embrace the excitement of the present, and look ahead to the future with optimism, renewal, and hope. “Aspire not to have more,” St. Oscar Romero said, “but to be more.”
Loyola University Maryland celebrated the inauguration of Loyola’s 25th president, Terrence M. Sawyer, J.D., with a series of festivities that culminated in an Inaugural Convocation on Oct. 12, 2022, in Loyola’s Reitz Arena. The earlier events included a Mass of Thanksgiving, an Inaugural Symposium, and a Student Celebration with a band, fireworks, and a laser display.
The inauguration brought together the Loyola and Jesuit communities, local and state officials, and higher education leaders from throughout the country. During the Convocation, several of these groups presented Sawyer with greetings and gifts.
