Bryan Haunert

Director of Recreation & Wellness

Bryan Haunert joined the Loyola University Maryland Department of Recreation and Wellness in February of 2016 as the Director of Recreation and Wellness. Originally from Kentucky, Bryan earned his Bachelors Degree in Recreation Administration from Bowling Green State University (OH) in 1998 and his Masters Degree in Athletic Administration from Ball State University (IN) in 2000 while serving as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Recreation Services. After graduation, Bryan accepted a position at George Washington University in Washington DC, where he served as the Assistant Director for Recreational Sports and Fitness Services from 2000 – 2002. In his role, Bryan was responsible for the intramural sports program, GW Summer Sports Camp, informal recreation and assisted with the opening of the Lerner Health and Wellness Center.

After GW, Bryan spent 6 years (2002 – 2008) at the University of Pennsylvania as the Associate Director of Facilities and Operations for the Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics.  At Penn, Bryan was responsible for the day-to-day operations of recreation and athletic facilities, created the department student development program, developed the PennKids Summer Camp and managed game day operations for Intercollegiate Athletics.

From 2008 - 2016, Bryan served as the Associate Director of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Oregon.  In his 8 years at Oregon, Bryan served on the department Leadership Team, managed the day to day operations of all recreation facilities, led the department in the opening of the $51 million Student Recreation Center Expansion and Renovation and assisted in the management of large scale events such as the 2012 USA Track and Field Olympic Trials and  the 2014 World Junior Track and Field Championships.  During his career, Bryan has served on many department, division and campus committees aimed at student development and providing an exceptional out of classroom experience for students. 

Bryan is a huge fan of the Kentucky Wildcats, Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. In his free time, he enjoys home improvement projects, staying active, taking in local restaurants and spending time with his wife, Terri and son, Jackson.
