Neil Andrito
Neil Andrito Director of Student Life

Neil Andrito joined the Loyola Student Life team in 2017 as the Director of Student Life. Neil's prior experiences focused on advocating for students, community development, and housing operations. Neil strives to create opportunities for students and help them to grow and develop. Neil believes strong campus partnerships are essential to creating a holistic student experience. In addition, Neil is passionate about service learning and helping students and staff make a difference in the world. Neil completed his B.S. in Biology and B.A. in Psychology from Stonehill College, his M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Centenary College, and is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration at New England College.

 

Stepf Diaz
Stepf Richie Diaz Associate Director for Recruitment & Staff Development

Stepf joined Loyola's Student Life team as an Assistant Director in August of 2019. Stepf is originally from Queens, N.Y., and after living in central Pennsylvania for several years, they are excited to experience city living again. They attended Shippensburg University, where they earned their bachelor's and master's degrees in social work. While social work is often the field of choice for folks who want to be counselors, Stepf knew they wanted to use their degree to work with college students, specifically around the topics of identity, equity, and social justice. Prior to joining the student life team at Loyola, they served as the coordinator for multicultural programs at a small liberal arts college in Pennsylvania, where they created a social justice curriculum and a plethora of opportunities for students to celebrate their authentic selves.

When not in the office Stepf can be found at local coffee shops, trivia nights, hanging out with their wife and cats, and trying to find the best places in the city to take selfies.

Jarrett Brown
Jarrett Brown Assistant Director for Campion Tower

Jarrett Brown joined the Student Life team in November of 2022. Jarrett originally from Plainfield, New Jersey, earned a B.S.in General Science (Biology and Graphic Design) from Lincoln University of Pennsylvania. It was at Lincoln that his passion for helping students begin, serving as both a resident assistant and student coordinator for the Office of Male Achievement. Professionally he has served as Coordinator of Student Engagement and Residence Coordinator, roles in which he has worked in his areas of interest which include student development, DEI and belonging, and process development. Outside of work Jarrett can be found trying new restaurants, gaming, enjoying podcasts, creating artistically, and spending time with family/friends.

Kate Charles
Kate Charles Assistant Director for Newman Towers

Kate Charles joined the Student Life team in November 2022. Kate earned a BA in English from Alfred University, in Alfred, NY and an MS in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration from the University of Rochester, in Rochester, NY. Kate has worked in Residence Life since her undergrad starting as a Resident Assistant, moving to a Graduate Head Residence in grad school, then working as an Area Coordinator at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD, and most recently at La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA. One of her favorite parts of working in Higher Education is being able to connect, support and mentor students. She has a passion for student mental health, sexual violence education and prevention, student development, and more. With deep family roots in Baltimore, Kate enjoys spending time with her family, has a passion for books, and adores her two cats.

Alli Colley
Alli Colley Assistant Director for Charleston Gardens

Alli Colley joined Student Life in June 2022 as the Assistant Director of Charleston Gardens. In her role, Alli oversees Seton, Hopkins, and Lange Courts, as well as Southwell, Avila, Bellermine, Claver, and Dorothy Day Halls. Additionally, Alli supervises 3 Graduate Residence Coorinators and 18 Resident Assistants.
 
Although having moved to many different states, Alli claims North Carolina as home. Alli received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from NC State University before receiving a Master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of South Carolina. When not working, you will likely find Alli outside with her dog, Mattox, or grabbing coffee in the College Center.

Brooke Herold Program Assistant

Brooke joined the Student Life team in December 2020 as their Program Assistant. Brooke manages the central office and assists in all student life projects and processes. This includes housing, area questions and concerns, programming, staff development, and office procedures. Prior to coming to Loyola, Brooke found her passion for working in higher education when she began working at the Community College of Baltimore County, where she is also an alum. At Loyola, Brooke is safe zone certified, a member of the green bandana brigade, a Messina mentor, and a graduate student representative on the Committee for Institutional Effectiveness.
 
Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Brooke received her B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology from Goucher College in Towson and is currently working on an M.A. in Education in the Curriculum & Instruction for Social Justice program here at Loyola.

Evan Huckfeldt Associate Director for Housing Operations

Evan Huckfeldt joined the Loyola Student Life team in 2019 as the Associate Director for Housing Operations. In this role, he oversees many of the department processes including: residence halls opening and closing, first-year housing assignments, returning student housing selection, room changes, and manages the student RoomRez portal. In addition to overseeing housing processes, Evan advises the Residence Hall Association which aligns with his passion for student leadership and empowering students to advocate for themselves.

Originally from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Evan received his Masters of Education in Training and Development and his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from The Pennsylvania State University. When not on campus you can find Evan exploring hiking trails, playing trivia or trying out new coffee shops in the Baltimore area.

Khadijatu Rahim
Khadija Rahim Assistant Director for Hillside

Khadijatu Rahim joined Loyola’s Student Life team as an Assistant Director in August 2021. Khadijatu was born in Sierra Leone, West Africa but is a Northern Virginia native. Khadjatu has earned her B.A. in History from Virginia State University and her M.Ed in Higher Educational Leadership from Liberty University and is pursuing her Doctorate in Higher Education. Khadijatu has a diverse background working in secondary, independent and higher education in DEI, Student Engagement, International Studies and Residential Life positions. Due to her personal and professional experience, Khadijatu has developed a passion advocating and working alongside students, especially First Generation, International and marginalized communities. She believes in not just finding pockets of safe spaces and people for students, but also transforming educational administrations fundamentally policy by policy so students can not only see themselves in the front of school websites but also in equitable and sustainable policies and procedures. Outside of work, Khadijatu can be found with family and friends, at the gym, planning her next trip and always at Starbucks.

Garrison (Garry) Schmitt
Garrison Schmitt Assistant Director for Housing Operations

Garrison (Garry) moved to Maryland and joined the Loyola team in 2018 having departed from his former role in Hospitality Administration with the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan. Garry has a diverse educational background, having served in both K-12 as well as higher education roles. But, while Garry has found a passion for working with students of all ages, he truly excels when in an atmosphere where students are empowering one another to serve, create their own identity, and care for the whole person. Bring on the Jesuit value of cura personalis!

Originally from Berlin, Conn., Garry completed his B.A. in Psychology from fellow Jesuit institution, College of the Holy Cross, and his M.Ed. degree in Higher Education Administration from Post University.

Garry enjoys leadership podcasts, PC/PS4 games, and spending time with his Wife and their two dogs, Bailey and Luke.
