RecycleMania is a national tournament that promotes waste reduction and recycling initiatives on campuses across the country. The 8-week competition allows colleges and universities to benchmark and compare waste diversion efforts. Join us for the annual RecycleMania tournament to learn more about recycling on campus and help foster a community of avid recyclers and sustainability stewards.
Loyola University Maryland competed in the 2015 RecycleMania Tournament, reporting totals for landfill trash, recycling, and food waste composting, in addition to hosting a variety of events to engage our community in the recycling process. We averaged an overall recycling diversion rate of 27.81%, generating about 14 lbs of recycling person during the competition window. You can view results from the competition on the RecycleMania Scoreboard.
Current rankings can be found on the Recyclemania website.
Every Friday outside of Boulder Cafe 10:00-2:00 the sustainability office will be sharing information about recycling with the Loyola Community.
Local environmental activist and artist Bridget Parlato of Baltimore Trash Talk will construct a River of Recyclables installation on the quad using water bottles and cans collected by the Loyola community to bring awareness to the volume and impact of single use plastic.
