Loyola University Maryland

The Study

Undergraduate & Graduate Peer Tutor

The Study’s tutoring program allows students to support each other in their academic studies. The goal of the program is to promote student independence while fostering mastery of the material. All tutoring is free of charge to enrolled undergraduate and graduate students. All peer tutors have previously taken the courses they tutor and have scored either an A or B in the course. Additionally, tutors are trained and certified Level 1 through a College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certified peer tutoring program.

Tutoring appointments must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. Students can receive two hours of tutoring per week, per subject.  Any students needing additional time with a tutor should email the Assistant Director to request extra appointments.  Students also have the option to book weekly recurring appointments.  They can pick a day and time with their tutor, then email thestudy@loyola.edu with that information, plus the subject. Student-athletes should register for tutoring on the SASS website, not through The Study.

The Study will do its best to support students online until they return to campus. We will make every effort to offer the same high-quality services but ask that you bear with us as we work through any technical difficulties. We will begin offering tutoring and our other services in an online format on Wednesday, March 18.

  • Peer Tutoring: The Study plans to use GoBoard as our online tutoring platform and Zoom as a backup platform. Students and Loyola tutors can meet online (similar to Skype) and have a regular session. The GoBoard platform includes screensharing, video and audio capabilities, and a math keyboard, so students from all disciplines should still be able to have a productive session. Students will still log onto TutorTrac to make an appointment, and we will follow up with an email containing the URL to the GoBoard site. Students experiencing technical difficulties should contact The Study.
