Fall Welcome Weekend 2023 will take place August 31-September 1 (Labor Day Weekend).
**The schedule below is based on our 2022 program. An updated schedule will be available in early July**

Floor Meetings with Resident Assistants
This is a required meeting for all first-year students living in the residence halls. Students should report to their specific residential areas.

Calling All Commuters: Your Guide to Success at Loyola
This is a required meeting for all first-year commuter students. Take this opportunity to attend the first organizational meeting of the year and learn more about the expectations of a commuter student at Loyola.

8:30PM - 10:00PM

Light up the Quad
Celebrate the beginning of your Loyola journey by lighting up the center of the campus and marking the arrival of the Class of 2026 in annual University tradition. This is a required event followed by Evergreen Small Group Meeting.

The Class of 2026 will be introduced and inducted into the Loyola University Maryland community. During this ceremony, students will pledge the Honor Code. Families, we invite you to celebrate with your student via our live stream.

Common Text Panel
We welcome you, Loyola’s newest scholars-in-residence, to our intellectual community by examining a text common to all of us. During this session, members of our Loyola community will reflect on The Vanishing Half by Britt Bennett.

You’ve read the book and you’ve tackled the study guide. Now it’s time to discuss what you’ve learned with your Messina advisor and new classmates. Other important information about classes and the advising process will also be covered.

Know More and Step Up! Building a Community of Consent and Support
This session is part of a continuing conversation about building a community free of sexual misconduct. We will address definitions of consent and sexual misconduct, including processes for reporting and addressing incidents and resources. You will also learn how you can play a role in building a strong community by intervening in situations where there is potential for harm.

The experience of being a student at Loyola extends beyond residence halls and classrooms into the City of Baltimore. Learn more about being a member of this shared community, the expectations placed on students, interactions with the local area, and more.

Joining Loyola’s academic community is a privilege complete with wonderful opportunities for growing as a scholar. We welcome students who identify as a person of color, a first-generation college student, and/or a member of the LGBTQ+ community to join for overview of available services as well as a time to connect with staff and peers.

Academic Interest Sessions and Department Open Houses
The academic community welcomes you to Loyola. Many departments are holding open houses and we also have information sessions designed to help you in your academic transition to our university. We have options for you whether you are considering particular fields of study, pre-professional pathways, or are unsure of your path!

Head to the Ridley for your first game as a Hound to cheer on the Women’s Soccer team as they take on Kent State University! A limited number of Loyola-branded Under Armour shirts will be handed out. Shuttles will pick up students from the Library and Newman Towers starting at 5pm. Remember to bring your ID!

Eric Dittelman: Comedy Mind Reader
As seen as a semi-finalist NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” and a guest on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, Eric Dittelman combines amazing mind reading with stand-up and improvisational comedy. Whether playing a round of Pictionary while Eric’s eyes are duct taped shut or having a personal thought revealed from their minds, audience members become part of the show and leave with a fun experience that they’ll never forget.

Evergreens will use this time to walk students through their schedule. On the tour, we will highlight the offices of your Messina Faculty and Mentor!
