Fall Welcome Weekend is MANDATORY for all new students at Loyola and attendance will be taken at each session (with the exception of late night/evening programming)

Thursday, August 29 

Time Program
8:00 a.m. - noon Resident Students Move-In to Residence Halls
Students will be given specific information on when and where to check-in.
11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Lunch
On your own at locations across campus.
Noon - 1:30 p.m. Commuter Students Check-In
Commuter students will receive their packets in the lobby area of McManus Theatre. 
2:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. Evergreen Small Group Meetings
Students will meet up in smaller groups to cover relevant orientation information as well as information for the year ahead.
4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. New Student Convocation
The Class of 2023 will be introduced and inducted into the Loyola University Maryland community. Parents and family members are welcome to stay, but we ask they depart campus at the conclusion of the ceremony. 
5:00 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. Dinner
On your own at locations across campus.
5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Commuter Student Meet Up
A chance for commuter students to meet one another while also learning about the various expectations of a Loyola student. 
7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Residential Meetings
A chance to learn more about the expectations in the year ahead, both on and off campus.
9:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m
FAC Attack!
Head up to the Fitness and Aquatic Center for some friendly games and competition. There will be free gear and prizes available for those who participate!

Friday, August 30

Common Text Presentations and Discussions
The text for this year is Heartland: A Memoir of Working Hard and Being Broke in the Richest Country on Earth by Sarah Smarsh (each student will receive a copy during Summer Orientation). Be prepared to discuss the book with your Messina group, including your faculty advisor and Evergreen.

2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Community Information Sessions 
The sessions will cover campus safety, community expectations, and what it means to be a member of the larger Loyola community. 
4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Evergreen Small Group Meetings 
8:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Hypnotist!
Nationally-renowned hypnotist Dan LaRosa will put on a captivating show, which includes hypnotizing students from the audience. Any volunteers?
9:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. Midnight Breakfast

Saturday, August 31

9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Academic Information Sessions 
A variety of information sessions on the academic life at Loyola will be offered including Honor Code, academic support, and campus resources. You'll rotate through sessions and have a break midway through for lunch!
*At the conclusion of the sessions, you receive your FREE Messina tshirt!

11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. BREAK
During this time, grab some lunch and relax before your afternoon sessions!

3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

We encourage you to stop in to the bookstore for help with your books, discounts on Loyola apparel, music, and raffles!

5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Dinner
On your own at locations across campus.
8:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. Casino Night & DJ!
Casino games including Texas Hold 'Em and Black Jack will be there. The more you win, the better your chances of winning prizes! 
11:30 p.m. - 1:30 a.m. Midnight Snack

Sunday, September 1

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Core Values/Jesuit Education
This session will offer you a chance to learn more about being a student at a Jesuit college, the values of Loyola University Maryland, and how to set yourself up for success. There will be time for reflection at the conclusion of this session.
 1:30 p.m. Class Photo
We'll do our annual class photo on the steps of the Chapel! Make sure to wear your new Messina shirt!
2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. 
Academic Interest Sessions
Students will have the option to attend various information sessions and departmental open houses. Whether or not you think you know what your major will be, this is a great time to explore different opportunities.
4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. New Student Liturgy
5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Class Picnic
A chance to unwind and relax with your classmates!

9:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.

Join one of Baltimore's local DJs for a laser light show you won't soon forget! Co-sponsored by SGA

Monday, September 2

10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Class Schedule Tours
Evergreens will show you around the various buildings and classrooms so you are ready to go on your first day of classes! You'll also have a chance to visit your Messina Faculty and Mentor offices!

12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Shuttle Service to Towson Market Place
Shuttles will run throughout the afternoon to stores like Target, Weis (grocery), Bed, Bath & Beyond and more!
6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Honors Program Event: Homer & Pizza
Honors students will be contacted with more information.
