Are you a student with a disability who is worried about your transition to college? Are you wondering what resources are available and where to find them? Strategies for Success is a one-day workshop specifically geared for students with disabilities. Participants will move in on Monday, August 24 and attend a casual welcome reception that evening. (Family members are invited).
On Tuesday, August 25, Strategies for Success attendees engage in activities designed to introduce them to the services and resources that Loyola has to offer. We will present an overview of time-management techniques, study skills, procedures for requesting accommodations and tips on taking care of oneself during college. Participants learn the importance of developing self-advocacy skills. The day ends with a dinner at a local Baltimore restaurant.
We will address the following topics:
- How do I request accommodations?
- Who can help me develop a schedule that emphasizes my strengths?
- How do I advocate for myself?
- Where are the campus resources to help me with study skills and time management?
- Where do I go when I am stressed out?
The workshop will run from 8:30 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. and includes all meals. Students with any type of disability (learning, physical, mental health, etc.) may register to attend).
