Men's, women's lacrosse and men's golf capture Patriot League championships
The Loyola University Maryland men’s and women’s lacrosse teams and the men’s golf team captured their first-ever Patriot League championships this weekend, capping off Loyola’s first season in Patriot League conference competition. As conference champions, all three teams earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in their respective sport.
Top-seeded women’s lacrosse, ranked 12th in the nation, defeated Boston University 18-7 on Saturday, April 26, at the Ridley Athletic Complex. The team’s 12th-straight win secured its fourth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Read the full story from Loyola Athletics here.
Men’s lacrosse was also the top seed in the conference and is ranked No. 1 in the nation. On Sunday, the men defeated the No. 3 seed (No. 18 nationally) Lehigh Mountain Hawks, winners of the previous two Patriot League titles, in front of a crowd of nearly 2,000 fans at the Ridley Athletic Complex. Also on Sunday, Men’s golf continued its string of conference championships, winning its seventh-straight title - and first-ever in the Patriot League - at Army’s West Point Golf Course.
