Debbie Phelps to speak at Loyola Leadership Week event
Loyola University Maryland welcomes Debbie Phelps for her lecture, “Contributing to a Brighter Future,” on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in McGuire Hall on Loyola’s Evergreen campus.
The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. Tickets for Loyola students and employees will be available beginning Monday, Oct. 27, and to the public on Monday, Nov. 3. To reserve tickets, call the box office at 410-617-5932.
Phelps – a teacher, community leader, and mother of Olympic athlete Michael Phelps – will discuss how people engage in leadership every day, and how values impact our leadership and choices. A reception and book signing for her memoir, A Mother for All Seasons, will follow her lecture.
The lecture is a part of the office of student engagement’s Leadership Week, a weeklong initiative on the Evergreen campus from Nov. 16-21 that celebrates and promotes leadership within the Loyola community through discussions, presentations, and information sessions.
The week aims to inform students of leadership opportunities; to involve them in conversation about what it means to be a leader at Loyola and beyond; and to inspire them to take on leadership roles in their personal, academic, and professional endeavors.
